Tammy Lin, MD, MPH, FACP
Executive Director
Tammy Lin, MD, MPH, FACP is an internal medicine specialist with strong interests in well-being, mentorship, and strengthening the pathway for students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented or marginalized groups in medicine, and those who are the first in their families to go to college. An active member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), she is the Governor of the Southern California Region III Chapter, is an ACP Well-Being Champion, and Chairs the ACP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She was an inaugural member of the Wellness through Equity and Leadership (WEL) Program, a partnership between six leading medical organizations fostering the development of female physicians through networking, mentorship, and leadership training. She has been an AMA-WPS Inspirational Physician Honoree and has been the recipient of two American Medical Women’s Association Exceptional Mentor Awards and an American Medical Association Inspiration Award.

Alex Maloof hails from the Imperial Valley. She studied at Harvard University, and graduated as a Summa Cum Laude in Physiology and Neuroscience (B.S.) with a Global Health minor from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). While at Harvard, Alex organized an intercollegiate conference and numerous events to improve the face of minority health through Latinos in Health Careers (LiHC). She also served as the liaison for Massachusetts Hispanic Medical Association (MAHMA). During her time at UCSD, Alex identified a vital need to break down the perceived barriers that minority students have to pursuing a medical career. She became the Founding President of the Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) and successfully led the effort to build a vibrant community of academically excellent, culturally competent, and socially conscious pre-healthcare professionals. MAPS fosters a collaborative environment that facilitates mentorship, access to resources, and creates invaluable and supportive connections that encourage minority student matriculation into medical school. She is an active and proud member of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine Class of 2022.

Born and raised in San Diego, Virginia attended the Preuss School UCSD (Class of 2014). She is a proud graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and two minors in Public Health and Public Policy. She plans to attend the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in Fall 2021 and plans to apply to medical school. Virginia is very enthusiastic about helping students access needed mentorship and resources, especially those who are the first in their families to attend college.

In June 2018, she proudly graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and a minor in Psychology. She has been an integral member of the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic Project where she volunteers and serves as a Floor Manager and Spanish-English Interpreter. Based on her own experiences, she is determined to become a physician in order to help underserved communities access high quality health care services. As a first-generation college student, Diana is eager to share her experiences. She looks forward to guiding students that are interested in pursuing post-secondary educational opportunities and opening up pathways to them that did not seem possible before.
